Technics announcing the new SL-1200/1210 MK7 turntable * price & release update
Technics recently announced the new SL-1200/1210 MK7 via a live stream featuring Kenny Dope, Derrick May, Cut Chemist and DJ Koco (Boiler Room).
The brand new Technics turntable is due this summer. According to What Hi-Fi? ,the price of the SL-1210 MK7* will be £899 / 1000 euros, while the SL-1200 MK7 will cost $1200.
*The European model is the SL-1210MK7.* The decks are identical apart from the name.
The 2016 relaunch of the SL- series was criticized due to the high price-tag. This new model could be the beginning of a turning point.
With the MK7, Technics wants to “re-engage the DJ community”. Important features will be:
- The ability to play in reverse
- A brand new motor control will benefit DJs who like to scratch (if you have cartridge and needle that supports it)
- Replaceable phono and power cables
- Additional brake / torque adjustments
- Matte black chassis & tonearm
- Torque adjust for starting & stopping the spinning platter
- Digital pitch control fader with ±8/16% ranges – with a X2 button at the top of the pitch fader allowing doubling
- White LED pop-up stylus light (improved illumination)
- LED strobe (red or blue color)
- Built from aluminum and fiberglass to reduce vibrations on high-volume, bass heavy stages
